JUNE FUN FACTS:

NORTHWESTERN NEWS:
Students last day of school is Friday, June 7, 2019 being released at 12:30 pm. Enjoy your summer Northwestern students.

SWIMMING LESSONS ON THE BEACH:
Swimming lessons for children will begin July 8th and continue thru July 17th on the public beach on Lake Nebagamon. Offering 8 sessions for $30, call Katie Kyle at 715-374-2741 with questions or to register.

NCA BUSY WITH JULY PLANS:
NCA has been busy preparing all year for our 4thFest activities. A mailer has been sent out to all Lake Nebagamon residents requesting volunteers and any help with funds to make this event happen for all. Our next meeting will be June 11, 2019, 6pm at Bottens Green Acres. Join us for the meeting and bring any ideas with you. No obligations, but it would be great to welcome new people to share in the planning, and we have many available positions for volunteering.

TAMBURITZANS:
Mark your calendars for America’s Premier International Folk Ensemble to come to Lake Nebagamon this summer for a two-night performance Thursday August 15 and Friday August 16, 2019. Shows to begin at 7:00pm at the Auditorium.

IMOGENE McGRATH MEMORIAL LIBRARY:
A reminder to all~ Every Wednesday new books and new DVD’s arrive. Stop in as we are so lucky to have this library and all the services they offer for our community.

CLASSICS BY THE LAKE CAR SHOW:
Be watching for flyers as the Car Club has released Saturday, July 20th to be the date for the annual car show from 9am-3pm. The Car Club is a very active club that gives back to our community. This past year they donated over $3,100.00. Tiger Manufacturing, Northwestern High School Trap Club, Northwestern Robotics Club, 2 Northwestern School Classroom grants, NCA fireworks fund, Douglas County Humane Society and Trinity Lutheran Church.

LAKE NEBAGAMON DANCE CLUB:
The dance club will be having their annual dance at the Lake Nebagamon auditorium. Rock-A-Billy Revue will be providing the music. Come and enjoy an evening of dancing and fellowship. Tickets for the evening are $10 at the door, ice will be provided and bring your own beverages.
LAKE NEBAGAMON HISTORY:

Frederick Weyerhauser brought his family to Lake Nebagamon in the late 1890’s after having established his lumber empire in Illinois and Indiana. The Nebagamon Lumber Company was incorporated June 14, 1898. His son, John Phillip was assigned management of the company, and went onto lay out the mill site and construct seven and one-half miles of track to Hawthorne, Wisconsin to connect with the Omaha Railway. He also Platted the town, built the mill, office, stables, boarding and rooming houses, a store, and other facilities. He built a home for his family which is now the “Big House” at Camp Nebagamon.

NIGHT OUT FOR LITERACY:
Friday August 2, 2019 will be the 11th anniversary for the Imogene McGrath Library “Night Out for Literacy.” The fundraiser/silent auction will take place on the deck at Bridges Tavern from 6pm-8pm with live music, free food, and zoomobile.

LAKE NEBAGMAON AREA GARAGE SALES:
Each year the Lake Association sponsors the village wide garage sales. This year will be June 22, 2019. If you are interested in being a house to host a garage sale, contact George Lehman at
geolehman1@juno.com or 218-390-7346. If you are interested in shopping during the sale, pick up a map at Midland.

LAKE NEBAGAMON GARDEN CLUB:
The garden club will be planting the window boxes, barrels, and tribute planters on Monday, June 3, 2019. If time permits we will clean up the gardens at the library, ballpark and tennis court.

MISSION STATEMENT: To welcome new businesses, community groups and citizens of Lake Nebagamon, Wi to participate in the promotion of the community. Our objective is to work together to inform Lake Nebagamon, Wi area of local news.

MEETINGS: We meet the second Tuesday of each month, at 6:00pm at local area businesses. Everyone is welcome.

LAKE NEBAGAMON FIRE DEPARTMENT:
The Lake Nebagamon Volunteer Fire Department is in full swing to prepare for the annual Dragin Tail walk/run fundraiser. The Volunteer Fire Department could use some volunteers to help during the race and with the Chinese Auction. If you would like to donate some time for this event they can accept messages through Facebook page “Lake Nebagamon Volunteer Department” or email at run@dragintail.com.

An 8 X 4 table will be provided for inside vendors. There is no electric available. Based on availability you will be set up inside or outside the auditorium. Preference will be given for your request for inside or outside based on first come, first served. There are 30 spaces available inside the auditorium.

Each exhibitor must take provision of safeguarding of their own property from the time they are placed at the site until they are removed. The promoter will not be responsible for, and or guarantee to the exhibitor, the safety of exhibit against fire, theft, accident or loss or injury whatsoever. It is agreed that the exhibitor will assume all liability for damage to facility because of their exhibit, and shall indemnify and hold harmless the promoter.

YMCA CAMP ANNIVERSARY:
The YMCA camp in Lake Nebagamon is celebrating 100 years this summer. Did you enjoy this camp as a child, or know anyone that was able to be a part of the great opportunity they have had over the years? Make a plan to come and take a stroll through the camp and enjoy dinner and reminiscing past history.
