NCA SPAGHETTI FUNDRAISER:
The Nebagamon Community Association is continuing to work on the 4th Fest Fundraising. We will be providing a Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser on January 19, 2019 from 5-7pm at the auditorium. There will be meat sauce (and no meat sauce available) bread sticks, cottage cheese and a treat. Tickets at the door will be a $9 suggested donation and children under 5 eat free. Please stop and help support the NCA as they are working at all times to help with events and bringing some “fun” into our community.
K.I.N. UPDATE:
K.I.N. has again gone over and above to help so many families enjoy a Christmas in a way they may not have been able to afford without this help during the season. A huge thank you to those that participated in any way for this project. Shopping, food and gift donations and your time spent helping with passing out goodies and helping these families.
CHRISTMAS PARTY AND TREE LIGHTING:
December 2, 2018 was a pretty chilly day around here in Nebagamon, but we had a great turn out for our annual tree lighting. Over 60 people met at the auditorium to await Santa and Ms. Clause’s arrival. We then boarded our hay ride and rode through the streets of the town to head up to a warm cozy fire and cookies and hot cocoa. At this time children were able to visit with the Clause family and sing some Christmas carols. As the community can see the tree was then lit and has remained lit through the month of December. We have plans to add lights and activities for next year so any of those interested can contact Patti at Dockside (715-374-2334) for details or to please share any ideas.
FREE ROLLER SKATING:
The Nebagamon Community Association has brought back free roller skating on Sunday afternoons every other weekend from 2pm-4pm. During the December 23rd skating day, we were able to provide a Christmas Party for those that came and served tacos in a bag, soda pop and Christmas cookies. It has been decided to begin a small concession stand with treats and beverages to help with cost of replacing skates and adding to our event funds. Those that have been taking part have been enjoying the time spent at the auditorium and are looking forward to keeping this going through the winter months. Thank you for all those that have joined in and helped get this up and running again. We will be taking any donations for roller blades or skates in any size, they can be dropped off at the auditorium or Dockside during regular business hours. We have some but could always use more sizes as we have been getting more interest from children and adults for this to continue.
FIRE CHIEF LETTER: Submitted by Jim Dawson
I WANT TO THANK ALL THE CITIZENS OF LAKE NEBAGAMON FOR THEIR SUPPORT IN THE LAST 25 YEARS OF ME BEING CHIEF OF THE LAKE NEBAGAMON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. IT IS TIME FOR ME TO LET THE YOUNGER GENERATION TAKE OVER WITH NEW IDEAS AND RUN THE DEPARTMENT. I WILL REMAIN ON THE DEPARTMENT AS A FIREFIGHTER AND FIRST RESPONDER TO HELP THE CITIZENS OF OUR COMMUNITY. AT THIS POINT MANY FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN DOUGLAS COUNTY ARE STRUGGLING DUE TO THE MANY MANDATES THAT ARE BEING PLACED ON THE VOLUNTEER DEPARTMENTS. CITIZENS NEED TO BE AWARE OF THE MANDATES AND ENCOURAGE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND THE VILLAGE BOARD TO WORK TOGETHER TO ENCOURAGE NEW VOLUNTEERS AND RETENTION OF THE PRESENT VOLUNTEERS.
LAKE NEBAGAMON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT:
Have you ever thought of joining the volunteer fire department? Meetings are held the second and the last Thursday each month. At those meetings we also hold training classes and offer information for classes that are up and coming. Please remember with all this snow we have had “dumped” on us that we all need to help the department be able to find you in case of an emergency. To help with this, make sure you always keep your fire numbers cleaned off and available to be seen.
BRIDGES 26TH ANNUAL FISHING CONTEST:
Let’s enjoy some time on our lake. The Annual Fishing contest is getting set up and prepared for January 27, 2019. Watch Facebook and posters around the local area for details to come.
A JANUARY QUOTE:
“It is growing cold. Winter is putting footsteps in the meadow. What whiteness boasts that sun that comes into this wood! One would say milk-colored maidens are dancing on the petals of orchids. How coldly burns our sun! One would say its rays of light are shards of snow, one imagines the sun lives upon a snow crested peak on this day. One would say she is a woman who wears a gown of winter frost that blinds the eyes. Helplessness has weakened me. Wandering has wearied my legs.” ― Roman Payne
