NOVEMBER FUN FACTS:
November, the 11th month of the year, has 30 days and marks the beginning of the winter holiday season for most folks, even if the winter solstice doesn’t occur until late December.
We’ve made this month, named for the ninth (novem) month in the early Roman calendar, into a social time of community suppers, feasts of thanksgiving, and general elections.
The November birth flowers, chrysanthemums, are often nicknamed “mums.” The word, “chrysanthemum,” comes from the Greek prefix “chrys-” meaning golden and “- anthemion,” meaning flower. It’s original colors were golden, though mums now come in many colors.
CHRYSANTHEMUM SYMBOLISM
A native to Asia with a history that dates back to 15th century B.C., chrysanthemum symbolism often originates from its original birthplace. In Japan, there’s even a “Festival of Happiness” to celebrate this flower each year.
• Both the Chinese and Japanese consider chrysanthemums a powerful emblem of youth. The Chinese also believe that it prevents gray hair.
• A symbol of the sun, the Japanese consider the orderly unfolding of the chrysanthemum’s petals to represent perfection.
• Confucius once suggested chrysanthemums be used as an object of meditation.
• It’s said that a single petal placed in the bottom of a glass of wine enhances longevity.
CHRYSANTHEMUM MEANING
• A red chrysanthemum means “I love you.”
• A white chrysanthemum means innocence, purity, and pure love.
• A yellow chrysanthemum means slighted love.
Chrysanthemums are perennials. After they finish blooming in the fall, mulch them with several inches of straw to protect them from the cold.

November Birthstone – Topaz – Scorpio
Topaz, the November birthstone along with Citrine, has all the colors of the setting sun – Brown, yellow, orange, sherry, red and pink. It is said to cure insomnia, asthma, and hemorrhages. Topaz
crystals may become quite large and finished gems weighing several thousands of carats are seen in many museum collections.
November Birthstone Twins – The Healing Citrine and The Fiery Topaz! November born individuals, are blessed with two ruling Birthstones, the revered Topaz and the gentle, healing Citrine.
Topaz is a gemstone exhibiting an array of spectacular colors. The stone was believed to be symbolic of the Egyptian Sun God Ra, with its brilliant golden glow and fiery intensity. Owing to this quality of the Topaz, it was fashioned into several amulets and talismans.
The citrine is diametrically opposite to its November cousin in quality and disposition. While the topaz is associated with passion, intensity and determination, the Citrine has taken on the more gentle qualities of men; peace, prosperity, loyalty, healing and creativity. The stone is also known as the ‘Healing Quartz’ in many sects.
BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT***:
About Boinkle BOINKLE CANDLE COMPANY·FRIDAY, MARCH 8, 2019·
My name is Liane, and I am a true artisan! I absolutely love making things by hand. Crocheting, making paper crafts, making signs, woodworking, soap making, photography, and sewing…and now, candles. I have always enjoyed candles. I usually have a candle of some sort burning every single night. Recently we had a tragedy in our family. We lost my mother-in-law, Missy, very unexpectedly. When we were going through her things, I came upon some cute little jars that had a note on them that read “to make candles in”. The jars had frosted pine trees etched into the sides. I thought “I’m going to use these the way Missy intended”. So that is how my candle making career began. Missy and I were very close, and we both enjoyed shopping for locally made items…including candles. We liked finding products that were unique and used natural ingredients. I’ve chosen to use soy wax and pure cotton wicks. Beeswax will be coming soon! After the events of the last year, my husband and I decided to move to Lake Nebagamon, WI. The basement of our house has a mother-in-law apartment, an ironic but project fulfilling development of our new home. There is a small but full kitchen for me to master this craft. I have spent many, many hours getting the wax, scent and wicks just perfect. I strive to be as unique and fun as possible with the scents and their names. My inspiration comes from all the awesomeness that surrounds Lake Superior and the uniqueness of the woods that surround our new home. There are so many things to like and the ideas for my candles are just endless. I did struggle with a company name. My husband, Nick, had been at a leadership training conference (which was unlike any other/changed him dramatically). That same weekend I was praying about a name for the company. He came home with this weird word, “Boinkle”. It means “to live in the moment” and “the essence of positivity, love, trust and self-confidence”. After I heard that I had my name. Thank you so much for taking the time to read about Boinkle and Happy aroma enjoyment!
