NEBAGMON HISTORY SPOTLIGHT:
A library in Lake Nebagamon was a longtime dream of the late Kay Coletta. And as with most of Kay’s dreams, she worked hard to achieve it. A group of Nebagamonites met many evenings to plan for the library and to get funding. Through grants and donations, the library came to be. Kay and her committee decided to name it after Imogene McGrath a longtime educator and a dear friend of them. Imogene died before the library opened in July of 2008, but Kay asked her permission to name it after her before she died. The year of Covid showed how much the library means to us all. It was one of the things most missed during the shutdown. We have been open only Wednesdays from 9:30 to 2:30 for several months but this gave patrons the opportunity to pick up books they ordered from the library system and helped ease the isolation. We are fortunate to have a SER trainee at the library, Jerry Wickland who will resume training April 8 allowing the library to be back to normal hours. Imogene’s family are all involved in the library as are some of her dearest friends. Three generations of the Anderson family are actively involved in many aspects of the IMML, as well as three generations of the McGrath family. It is truly heartwarming to have so many people eager to help out. The library exists only through the generosity of others. We receive no funding of any kind. Expenses are paid through donations and fundraising. Donations can be mailed to IMML. PO Box 502 Lake Nebagamon Wi 54849
