AUGUST FUN FACTS:
August was named in honor of Augustus Caesar. It has 31 days because Augustus wanted as many days as Julius Caesar’s month of July had. (They took that extra day from February) Previously names Sextilis in Latin, it was the sixth month of the Roman calendar.
Birthstone: Peridot
Flower: Gladiolus and Poppy
August is also related to the work “auger”, a hole digging tool, because farmers dug for next season at this time every year.

YMCA CAMP ANNIVERSARY:
The YMCA camp in Lake Nebagamon is celebrating 100 years this summer. Did you enjoy this camp as a child, or know anyone that was able to be a part of the great opportunity they have had over the years? Make a plan to come and take a stroll through the camp and enjoy dinner and reminiscing past history.

KIN Golf Tournament:
KIN (Kids in Nebagamon) now supporting children throughout the entire Maple School District would like to thank everyone for their support of the Mertz/Rookey and Link Ford/RV Golf
Tournament to benefit KIN on July 20, 2019 at Botten’s Green Acres Golf Course. We hope golfers had a great time and want to thank all of the hole sponsors, volunteers, those who
donated prizes and bought raffle tickets, as well as golf teams who donated their winnings. KIN certainly functions in a generous community! We look forward to seeing you all next year so save the date – July 18, 2020 – for the annual tournament. To learn more about KIN, check out our new website at: kinnorthwestern.org
