K.I.N. CHRISTMAS PROJECT:
Our Nebagamon elves are working hard for families in our community to be able to have a Christmas they may not be able to have without a bit of help. If you know of anyone that needs a boost during this holiday season, please contact Carol Mallegni @715-374-3718 for details. The Northwestern High School Student Council is currently doing their part by collecting toys to donate. So far this year they are shopping for 108 children in our school district and 42 families. These children and families will receive wrapped gifts and the ingredients for an entire old-fashioned Christmas family dinner. Gifts and food are being distributed at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lake Nebagamon on December 20, 2018 during pick up there are tables with “FREE” shopping for any “extras”. K.I.N. does so much for our community by making all these arrangements. If you are willing to help or want to be a part of such a wonderful program, please contact Carol at the number above.

HUNTING WIDOWS WEEKEND:
Thank you for all those that took time to enjoy the auditorium, crafts and food on Saturday November 17. Shout out to the choir for having food available for the shoppers as part of their fundraising efforts towards their trip. It was another successful year for this annual event. Raffle tickets have been selling for the beautiful handmade quilt, with all fees going to the KIN charity. The drawing will be held on Sunday December 2 during the annual tree lighting at the auditorium. This is an important special event for many, if anyone has any suggestions or comments feel free to contact Gail Johnson. (gailyj111@gmail.com)

CHRISTMAS PARY AND TREE LIGHTING:
The NCA group is getting all the decorations and lights ready for this year’s annual tree lighting. A time for family and friends to enjoy the joy of the holiday. December 2, 2018, Sunday we will be meeting at the auditorium at 4pm for singing and gathering together. We will then board the wagon with our special guests (Santa and Ms. Clause) take a ride singing carols in the streets of Lake Nebagamon up to the tree at the top of the hill. Then we will continue with celebration with hot cocoa and sweet treats as we warm up by a fire, when the time is right we will all be able to experience the joy of watching the children see the tree light up in beauty.

BRIDGES ANNUAL HUNTER FEED:
GRANDMA (Irene) BRIDGE WOULD BE PROUD!
Bridge’s Annual Ol’ Hunter’s Feed, held on opening day, was a big success!

Nothing made Grandma Bridge happier than cooking for people and Hunting Season was one of her favorite times of the year.

She was known for cooking any type of wild game! During hunting season there would be a constant stream of people bringing Grandma their game to cook while many others stopped by for whatever amazing meal she was serving that day, never an invite needed!

So, you can imagine how much she enjoyed the first day of Deer Hunting Season when she would have her Annual Hunters Feed. The tradition of feeding all the hungry hunters, after their first long day out, has been a highlight for 70 years at Bridge’s Bar!

Grandma Bridge would be so proud of the spread created by the Bridge’s Bar “Family” this year… Lindsey Wilson pulled it all together as well as making Stuffing, Potatoes, Gravy & veggies; Chris Mirwald roasted two large juicy turkeys and two honey hams; Anna Culhane whipped up a sweet potato casserole, Terri Graves made a green bean casserole, asian salad, and brought some of her delicious home canned goodies; Shelly Thompson made a Wild Rice Casserole, which was a staple on Grandma Bridge’s holiday table, and cranberry dessert; and Sharon Colton finished it off with her amazing homemade pies!

The food was bountiful and delicious. “It’s events like this, where our staff and customers come together, that warms my heart and makes Bridge’s such a special place” shared owner, Traci Bridge, “I’m so thankful for everyone involved who continues the traditions that generations of the Bridge family and customers have built.”

Join Bridge’s for next year’s Hunter’s Feed on Saturday, November 23rd at 7pm. Everyone is welcome, even non-hunters, there’s always plenty of food to share!

ANNUAL TURKEY TROT:
For at least the past 6 years a dedicated group meets in the morning hours on Thanksgiving morning to raise money for the BackPack Program for Students in the School District of Maple. This program is a service provided by the Northern Lakes Food Bank that provides for children in need. The mission of the BackPack Program is to meet the needs of hungry children by providing them with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends and school vacations when other resources are not available. This year approximately over 40 men, women, children, and dogs met at the auditorium for the annual “turkey trot”. Donations raised through the trot were over $1,000 A matching grant will add another $1000. 100% of money raised will go to the Northern Lakes Food Bank BackPack Program. And donations are still coming in. Everyone was a winner! Watch for this event to come again and let see how many we can have take part. Choose your distance, NO clock, NO awards, NO t-shirts, No registration fee. Just a great time to be had.

A NICE RELAXING SEA CRUISE:
A native of Northern Wisconsin, Dale is a 1977 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Superior, with a major in Speech Communication and a minor in Radio/Television/Film. He attended the University of Southern California Graduate School Program toward an MFA in screenwriting.

“I’ve always been fascinated by treasures, pirates and the sea: a sometimes-lethal combination,” he says. “The treasure of Lima Peru – which is real – first captured my attention as a junior in high school and cemented itself in my mind. I thought how neat it would be to board a sloop and sail into a treasure-hunting adventure. Two of my favorite authors growing up were Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Edgar Rice Burroughs. I loved their styles and their stories. The consummation of this fascination is, A NICE, RELAXING SEA CRUISE.”

“Dale S. Botten” Lake Nebagamon has released his first novel. How exciting from a local resident of our area. The Novel is available for purchase at Globe News, Douglas County Historical Society, Fitgers, Zenith, and Amazon. It can also be found on the shelves at Superior Public Library and Imogene McGrath Memorial Library as well. There is talk of having a book signing at Dockside to meet and support our local area writer. Be watching for details.

Dale became a resident of Lake Nebagamon during a snowstorm in December of 2007. Check out www.dalerbotten.com for more history of his prior publications, writing, screen plays, etc.

MISSION STATEMENT: To Welcome new businesses, community groups and citizens of Lake Nebagamon, Wi to participate in the promotion of the community. Our objective is to work together to inform Lake Nebagamon, Wi area of local news.

MEETINGS: We meet the second Tuesday of each month, at 6:00pm in the lower level of the Lake Nebagamon auditorium. Everyone is welcome.

NEWS SUBMISSIONS: DEADLINE is the 20TH OF EACH MONTH.

We meet the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm in the lower level of the Lake Nebagamon Auditorium.  Our December 11 meeting, we will be discussing the annual Spaghetti Feed scheduled for January,19 2019.

LIGHT UP THE LAKE:
Please enter your address for the Light up the Lake Christmas outdoor light contest. Special thank you to Benson Electric and Dahlberg Light & Power for donating prize money for this contest. There will be a drop box for addresses at Midland Marketplace in Lake Nebagamon. Watch for posters and let’s make this fun for all. Remember driving around looking at the pretty lights? Just taking a chance to bring this type of fun back for our community, family and friends. Judging will take place the weekend of December 22 and contest winners will be announced and posted December 26.

Participates will be added to a list to be printed for all those that wish to drive around and “vote” the best decorated homes in our area. 1st Place $150 2nd Place $100 3rd Place $50
